In the search box, paste browser.newtab.url
In the search results, right-click browser.newtab.url and choose Reset.
Install Custom New Tab.
Click the ≡ Menu Button and choose Add-ons, then Extensions.
Next to the Custom New Tab entry, click the Options button.
Enter whatever web page URL you want, or an internal URL like about:home or about:newtab, and make sure "Place focus in URL bar" is not checked.
